Session 6

I don’t know if I’ll continue using this blog.  I may start another blog on a non educational site for non educational purposes.  I intend to see if I can find blogs that are helpful to me in my personal life.

I have been enjoying some personal blogs of family and friends.  Blogs are a GREAT way to keep people posted about life.

Session 4, Activity 3

  1. I was very interested in the article Wide Open Spaces, Wikis Ready or Not.  I liked how it explained the common feeling that your work can be ruined by others.  The points made that others would keep your work from being ruined and the information about security made me quite interested in the possibilities in a classroom.  I also believe it would be good to let a class edit each other’s work.  I know I would find it important to change my attitude as Liz Lane Lawley stated in her article.  By the way, I have a cousin named Liz Lane Lawley.  I’ll have to find out if she wrote that article.
  2. I went ti wikipedia and looked for the word “ebenezer” as in the hymm “Come thou Fount” and found that meaning wasn’t in Wikipedia.  I wonder if I’ll sign in and add it…
  3. I keep working on my template for this class and noticing that Word doesn’t have these new terms like “blog” in its dictionary.  I keep adding these terms to my dictionary be right clicking and choosing “add to dictionary”

Session 3 Activity 4

  1. I am pleased to see the opportunities for classroom blogs that are not available to the entire internet.  I like the idea of social bookmarking as a way of providing information to students and parents.  I always liked letting the parents know what was going on in the classroom from the next week’s spelling words, to long range goals, to pix.
  2. Our Wednesday night church services use a computer program of the Bible that’s projected onto a screen and has tagging, bookmarking, and highlighting abilities similar to Diggo.  I find it much easier to read the Bible on the giant screen, and I love the tags and highlighting.
  3. I seem to be looking at much of the info I’m learning and relating it to other things besides the classroom, since I’m retired.  I keep going to sites and searching for “caring for elderly parents” instead of education topics.

I sure am glad to see spell checker at the top of the page.  I just hope I remember to use it.  If I don’t, just ignore my mistakes!
